Bone Spear

Bone Spear is the Necromancer’s signature burst ability — a piercing projectile of solidified shadow that hits every enemy in a straight line. It scales with Intelligence and is the primary damage tool for solo Summoner builds.

PiercesYes — hits up to 6 enemies

The spear fires from the Necromancer’s staff and travels in a straight line, hitting the first 6 enemies in its path. Each hit applies a 4-second Brittle debuff that increases shadow damage taken by 12%.

Combo with Decay

The standard Necromancer combo is Bone Spear → Decay, which capitalizes on the Brittle debuff:

  1. Cast Bone Spear through the pack.
  2. Immediately drop Decay on the same line.
  3. Death Coil any stragglers.

This combo is the basis for the Necromancer solo playstyle.

PvP usage

In PvP, Bone Spear is the highest single-target burst skill most Necromancers have access to. The 0.3s cast time makes it punishable by interrupts, so always pair it with Bone Armor (your interrupt immunity) before committing to the cast in a duel.

FAQ

Q: Does Bone Spear pierce through walls? A: No, it stops at the first solid terrain hit. Aim carefully in tight Echoing Spire corridors.

Q: Can Skeletal Mages cast Bone Spear? A: No — Skeletal Mages have their own spell list (Death Coil, Decay, and a random shadow bolt). Only the player character casts Bone Spear.

Q: Is Bone Spear worth maxing first? A: Yes. Every Necromancer build maxes Bone Spear before anything else — it is the highest damage-per-Mana skill in the class.
