Rogue

High mobility melee; advances to Shinobi

Rogue

The Rogue is SpiritVale’s highest-mobility melee class. Built around Combo Points, Stealth, and positional backstabbing, the Rogue wants to be behind the enemy at all times. If you enjoy clipping through packs and chaining kills, Rogue is your home.

Overview

Rogue combat is split into two phases: setup and burst. Setup means opening from Stealth for a guaranteed Backstab crit — generates 2 Combo Points. Burst is the 3-CP opener, typically Eviscerate for raw damage or Rupture for sustained DoT.

Mobility is the Rogue’s ace card. Shadow Step teleports behind a target, generating 1 CP and refreshing every 6 seconds. Evasion gives 75% dodge for 3s — your panic button. Combined with Sprint (+50% movement) and Vanish (reset Stealth), the Rogue can enter and exit combat at will.

Rogue advances into the Shinobi at Job Level 50. Shinobi adds Poison DoTs, Multistrike on dagger crits, and Shadow Clone for massive sustained DPS.

Stat priority

  1. Agility — crit chance, attack speed, dodge.
  2. Strength — small damage bonus; secondary.
  3. Vitality — tertiary.

Aim for ~35% crit chance with full buffs. Crit is everything for the Rogue because Backstab from Stealth is double damage, and crits on top of that multiply.

Skill tree

Backstab Active 0s

Strike from behind for 200% damage. From Stealth: guaranteed crit.

Eviscerate Active 0s

Consume all CP; +50% damage per CP.

Rupture Active 0s

Consume all CP; 6s bleed per CP.

Shadow Step Active 6s

Teleport behind target, +1 CP.

Stealth Active 0s (out of combat)

Enter Stealth; first attack guaranteed crit, +40% damage.

Vanish Active 90s

Drops aggro, re-enters Stealth.

Evasion Active 60s

75% dodge for 3s.

Sprint Active 30s

+50% movement for 5s.

For leveling, **Stealth → Backstab → Eviscerate** is the standard opener. Save **Vanish** for emergencies.

Equipment & cards

The Thief’s Mark 2-piece (Lv 20 dungeon) is the early set: +8% Agility. At Lv 50, swap to Shadow Stalker (4-piece — +15% Backstab damage). Endgame: Shadow Stalker 4 + Veil 2 for guaranteed crits from Stealth.

Cards to chase:

  • Quick Fingers (Lv 25 dungeon) — +10% attack speed.
  • Cloaked (Lv 50 dungeon) — Stealth lasts 2 extra seconds.
  • From the Shadows (Lv 90 dungeon) — Backstab crits refund 1 CP.

Leveling (Lv 1–50)

Rogue leveling is fast and dangerous. Open every pack from Stealth, burst a priority target, Vanish if things go sideways. Drop Rupture on tougher enemies to let DoT tick while you move.

By Lv 30 you can solo Echoing Grotto bosses thanks to your mobility and burst.

Endgame

Endgame Rogues (post-Shinobi) are single-target kings in The Echoing Spire and trash clearers in farm routes. Poison stacking + Multistrike makes your Backstab one of the hardest hits in the game per second.

The PvE meta favors dual-dagger weapons with maximum attack speed. Crit-mult substats are second priority.

FAQ

Q: Can I play Rogue from the front? A: You can but you’re gimping yourself. Backstab deals 200% damage, frontal strikes deal 100%. Always position behind.

Q: How important is Stealth cooldown? A: Critical. The talent Ghost reduces Vanish cooldown by 20s — most Rogues consider this mandatory.

Q: Why does my damage feel low? A: Check your positioning. If you’re striking from the front, you’re losing half your damage. Also: Combo Points before Eviscerate, always.
