Spear Thrust
Fast single-target poke. Knight's basic combo starter; chains into Spear Sweep at rank 4+.
Spear Thrust
Spear Thrust is the Knight’s bread-and-butter single-target poke. It hits instantly, has no cooldown, and serves as the first hit in every Knight combo. At rank 4+ it chains into Spear Sweep without a global cooldown reset, which is what makes the Knight’s AoE pull combo feel so smooth.
How it works
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Active |
| Target | Single enemy |
| Cooldown | 0s |
| Element | Physical |
| Resource cost | None |
| Range | Melee (5 m) |
| Cast time | Instant |
The thrust deals weapon-scaled physical damage and applies a brief Combo Ready buff (0.5s) that lets the next Spear Sweep fire instantly without consuming a global cooldown.
Rotation
- Open with Spear Thrust on the priority target.
- Follow immediately with Spear Sweep (combo window) for AoE.
- Refresh Shield Bash on cooldown to keep Staggered up.
- Use Guard between pulls to keep mitigation rolling.
The full priority order is documented on the Knight wiki page.
When to invest
Put your first 5 skill points into Spear Thrust at Lv 1 — every Knight build maxes it. By Lv 20 you should have Spear Thrust at rank 5; the rank 5 bonus adds a 6% slow that makes the Spear Sweep combo far more reliable in PvP.
FAQ
Q: Does Spear Thrust proc on-hit effects? A: Yes — it counts as a normal weapon hit, so any on-hit gear (e.g. the Iron Will 2-piece bonus) applies.
Q: Can Paladins use it after advancing? A: Yes, Spear Thrust carries over to Paladin. It’s still your fastest single-target poke even after you pick up group healing tools.
Q: Is there a PvP-specific build that skips it? A: No — every viable Knight and Paladin PvP build maxes Spear Thrust first. There is no scenario where the skill is wasted.
