Gunslinger Multistrike PvE Build
The Gunslinger is the highest sustained ranged DPS in SpiritVale. Where the Wizard is burst elemental and the Berserker is melee burst, the Gunslinger commits to Multistrike on rifles — turning every shot into a potential double or triple hit.
This build is the standard PvE ranged loadout from Lv 50 through endgame, designed for single-target boss damage and kiting in The Echoing Spire.
It evolved from the Scout wiki entry — read that first for the foundation.
Overview
The build’s core insight is Multistrike interacts with ranged attacks:
Multistrike grants a 30% chance to strike twice. At 100 crit rate, this becomes effectively 60% chance per shot. At 200+ attack speed, you can fire 4+ shots per second.
This means the optimal rotation is not a single big shot — it’s sustained rifle fire with Hunter’s Mark debuff on the target.
The build also layers:
- Hunter’s Mark for +25% damage taken on the target
- Multistrike passive for double-hit procs
- Crippling Shot to root mobile bosses
- Disengage as the only escape tool
You are always at range. The Gunslinger has lower HP than Wizard but higher mobility.
Stat priority
- Agility — primary. Crit and attack speed scale both Multistrike and rifle damage.
- Strength — secondary. Raw weapon damage bonus.
- Vitality — tertiary. The Gunslinger is squishy; baseline HP matters.
Breakpoint to chase: 50% crit chance with full buffs by Lv 70. Crits trigger Multistrike at twice the rate of non-crits.
Skill rotation
Standard single-target rotation
- Hunter’s Mark (8s debuff, +25% damage taken)
- Crippling Shot (roots the target for 4s)
- Sustained rifle fire until Hunter’s Mark expires
- Refresh Hunter’s Mark
- Repeat
At 50% crit and 200 attack speed, you fire 4 shots/second. With Multistrike, that’s an effective 6 shots/second. Sustained DPS rivals the Berserker at range.
Boss opener
- Pre-cast Hunter’s Mark at 80% boss HP (when you see the cast bar)
- Crippling Shot as the pull lands
- Sustained rifle fire
- Disengage when the boss telegraphs a frontal cone (every 30-40 seconds)
- Refresh Hunter’s Mark on cooldown
Trash pack opener
- Hunter’s Mark on the strongest mob
- Crippling Shot the pack
- Multishot (AoE rifle fire) to clear

Strengths & weaknesses
Strengths
- Highest sustained ranged DPS in the game
- Mobile — Disengage lets you reposition quickly
- Hunter’s Mark debuff amplifies entire party’s damage
Weaknesses
- Squishy — lower HP pool than Wizard
- Single-target focused — AoE trash is slow
- Reliant on Multistrike proc RNG (Mitigation: more attack speed = more chances)
FAQ
Q: Can I just spam Multishot for AoE? A: Multishot deals 60% of single-target damage per hit. It’s fine for trash but a DPS loss on bosses. Always single-shot single targets.
Q: When do I use Disengage? A: Only when the boss telegraphs a frontal cone or you’re about to take lethal damage. Disengage has a 12s cooldown — burning it on cooldown is a mistake.
Q: How do I deal with mobile bosses? A: Crippling Shot. If the boss is immune to root (some T3 bosses are), accept that your damage drops and focus on mechanics over rotation.
Q: Is Gunslinger better than Wizard for PvE? A: Depends on the fight. Gunslinger wins single-target sustained. Wizard wins AoE burst. For most Echoing Spire bosses, Gunslinger is preferred.
